Halle Berry: A Jeffersonian

Subtitle: A Double Jeffersonian

Academy-Award winning actress Halle Berry (Monster's Ball)

portrayed Zola Taylor in  WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE.

Zola was one of three women simultaneously married 

to Frankie Lymon who famously sang the title song.

Halle also portrayed Dorothy Dandridge,

the first African-American  nominated

for a Best-Actress Academy Award.

Ms. Berry is the first African-American

to win the Best-Actress Academy Award. 

Halle and Dorothy were both born

in the same Cleveland hospital.

 In 1954, Ms. Dandridge (pictured here)
 was nominated for her role
 as Carmen Jones.


 In approximately 1935,
 Dorothy performed at Jefferson
 as part of the Dandridge Sisters,
 who were referred to as
"The Black Andrews Sisters."


 In 1938, Dorothy was a student
 at Jefferson High School.

Zola Taylor was a
founding member
of the Platters.


This Rock&Roll Hall of Fame
singing group featured (at least)
three former students
who attended Jefferson.

Zola was one of them.
