Maybe If I Counted Five Hundred...

THE TELEPHONE CALL may be Dorothy Parker's most universal story. Allowing for gender reversal, you may be hard pressed to find a human being anywhere who cannot relate to it.
At less than four pages, it is certainly one of Ms. Parker's shortest stories.

THE TELEPHONE CALL is half the length of her most delicious quotes.
She read the eulogy at Scott Fitzgerald's funeral. It may have been a good thing that Zelda wasn't in attendance.
I just bookmarked Dorothy's interview in the Paris Review. If you read it before I do, please let me know.
And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...sample something from Mrs. Parker & the Vicious Circle.
