Sonny & Carol (TWC #2)

This image is from Kent Hartman's THE WRECKING CREW.

Carol Kaye was the only female member of the "Wrecking Crew," a very select group of Los Angeles studio musicians who played
on the original recordings of the Byrds, the Beachboys, Dean Martin, the Monkees, Frank Sinatra, et al.

Phil Spector's WALL OF SOUND would have been a whisper of wimps if not for the Wrecking Crew.

Blogger's notes
Before becoming a member of the Wrecking Crew, Carol Kaye had an extensive jazz background. As for providing the bass line that defined THE BEAT GOES ON–a seminal song of the Sixties, if there ever was one–Carol was definitely familiar with Benny Golson's KILLER JOE.

Better minds than mine have linked these two songs together and the Plan 9 Music concept obligates me to hyperlink them together for you. My connection to a South-Central Los Angeles high school obligates me to mention that two of the musicians on the KILLER JOE video–Art Farmer and his brother Addison Farmer–both graduated from Jefferson High School!

The next Wrecking Crew page is  here.
