Love Me Or Leave Me

The day Nina Simone autographed this album was a game changer in my so-called life. But enough about me.
A studio recording of LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME is included on Lady Sings The Blues. The text and link below are from Lester Perkins.

Today's offering is this performance from Nina Simone's 1960
appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show".

In addition to her divine voice Nina treats us to her piano
playing which is quite good, at one point taking on a classical
quality.

The song "Love Me Or Leave Me" written by Walter Donaldson and
Gus Kahn, was originally introduce in the Broadway play "Whoopee!"
in December of 1928 and soon became a jazz standard. It was
played and recorded by many artist including New Orleans clarinetists
Jimmie Noone and his Apex Club Orchestra who recorded the song
on April 27, 1929.

Blogger's Note
Nina Simone's daughter has something to say about her mother's biopic, scheduled for release in 2013.
Few things in life are more overdue than a feature film about Nina Simone.
