Some of the contents of the tumbler
became the "stuff" used
in an assemblage
called
Transparents.
The assemblage was a tribute to
Joseph Cornell.
Transparents provided a springboard
for Jack McCarthy's poem entitled
MADE FOR EACH OTHER.
Regarding this image, I have much
more immediate and intimate
memories associated with
the tumbler than
the math utensils.
The woman who gave it to me
was named Zerolda.
We met at a poetry reading in 2006.
She introduced me to the 1933 Paramount Studios'
version of
ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
Therefore, I fell in love.
The tumbler was her parting gift to me.
It contained a note that read "I've gone through the looking glass."
I have not seen her since but that is enough about me.
