Did he really say that?

R.I.P. Robert Hughes (7/28/38 - 8/6/12)

With his Motorcycle Shoes
And a brain from the Sky
The art world
Says
"Robert Hughes, Goodbye."

But there is no way the art world can measure its gratitude for this extraordinary man.

However, Robert was alive and very well in 1997 when TIME Magazine did a cover story about the man who had been their art critic since 1970. This issue coincided with an eight-part TV Special, hosted & written by Mr. Hughes.
One of the artists featured in the series was the man most often associated with "The Memory Box." JOSEPH CORNELL is not only my favorite non-painterly artist but the Lewis Carroll School's Professor Magritte said the same thing. But the text below is from Robert Hughes. My re-photograph of The Hotel Eden, 1945 does not do the original assemblage justice but the link to the artist will more than make up for it.

There is a Homage to Joseph Cornell included in the 2-DIE-4 PHOTO GALLERY.
