Richard Berry & Richard Berry (TWC #7.5)

THE WRECKING CREW, Kent Hartman's book
about Los Angeles' unheralded studio musicians,
inspired seven GodFather of Math pages
but only Carol & Sonny (TWC #2)
references the ubiquitously blogged
PLAN 9 MUSIC concept.

Kent Hartman's book gives credit to Los Angeles musicians where credit was long overdue.

Standing in the Shadows of Motown does the same thing for Detroit musicians.

Besides  immeasurable excellence,
what  all  these studio musicians
have in common is that at some point
in their careers, they all  recorded
LOUIE LOUIE.

Many of those recordings probably
date back to teenage garage bands
where the recording equipment
consisted of a  Radio Shack
portable cassette rccorder.

What Kent Hartman did
for the Wrecking Crew
and Standing in the Shadows
did for Motown musicians,
I intend to do for the composer
of LOUIE LOUIE.

His name is  Richard Berry and the Plan 9 Music Concept
hereby presents two songs as evidence of his quintessential talent:

The first song  is most often associated with the Coasters,
who are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Richard was not a member of the Coasters but he was chosen to record
this song because his voice had the perfect combination
of menace and danger.

Musicologists have referred to RIOT IN CELL BLOCK #9
as the first example of "gangsta rap."

The second song  is what Richard Berry wrote
in response to RIOT IN CELL BLOCK #9.

Richard entitled it The Big Break

If only the sequel
Were as famous
As the prequel...
This post would be
A redundancy!
